The information designer

The basic formula by Mario Garcia...

Information designers, regardless of the medium in wich they work, carry out a basic formula as they conceptualize the means to present the information. This is a time-tested way of going through a checklist that ensures that various strategies are in place before a final concept is created. As this is done, the information designers reviews a multi-task process that includes bringing together message, audience, size of canvas on wich information will be presented, potential for development, and legibility. The formula, the, consists of a strong relastionship between content and visual environment, the two areas that create many of the dilemmas and lead to various decisions facing the information designer.

A good model for effective information design consists of the following:

- Understanding the nature of the information to be presented
- Focusing strongly on a specific audience
- Simplifying the message
- Integrating words and visuals
- Recognizing the differences between print and electronic media
